Gavin is chosen as Fatea Magazine's Instrumentalist of the Year 2023!

In early January there was a very welcome but completely unexpected announcement - I was named Instrumentalist of the Year by UK folk magazine FATEA, in their awards for best of 2023. Whoop! it makes me feel very honoured, and genuinely touched, and ultimately it’s fantastic to have such a strong note of support - so thank you FATEA, and all who sail with you! Very much appreciated :-)

Quarterdays box set is here!

The Quarterdays box set is now available to buy.

Limited collector's edition, only available here on the website, and signed by Gav.

You get all four Quarterdays mini album discs: Candlemas with Aaron Jones, Whitsun with Wendy Stewart, Lammas with Ruth Morris, and Martinmas with Phil Alexander. You also get a digital download card for each disc.

There is a 32 page booklet included with much of the interesting background to the tunes.

All nicely presented in a card slip case.

QUARTERDAYS SERIES FINALE CONCERT AT CELTIC CONNECTIONS 02/02/24

Gavin Marwick and Friends will be doing an end of series concert for the Quarterdays EPs on Candlemas - a year after the first EP was released - at Celtic Connections on 02/02/24. It’ll be a good hooley of a celebration, and Glasgow’s Barony Hall will let the slower numbers really ring out as well. The full line up will be:

Gavin Marwick (fiddle) - Ruth Morris (nyckelharpa) - Aaron Jones (cittern/ guitar) - Wendy Stewart (harp/ concertina) - Phil Alexander (accordion/ piano) - Fraser Fifield (sax, pipes, whistles, cajon) - Stuart MacPherson (double bass).

THE BOX SET OF QUARTERDAYS COMING SOON

Just out in time for Christmas, the complete box set of all four Quarterdays EPs will be available here on the website from early December. As well as the discs in their original cardboard wallets it will include a 32 page booklet of sleeve notes. If you have one or more of the discs already just get in touch and we’ll work out a bespoke order for you. It’s the perfect way to present the discs and keep them all together.

 

SCOTS TRADS ORIGINAL WORK OF THE YEAR?

Gavin Marwick’s Quarterdays project is nominated for Original Work of the Year in the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2023. The awards will be announced at the glitzy ceremony/ knees up to be held in Dundee on December 2nd, live on BBC Alba.
